XPeng unveiled its first humanoid robot, Iron, at its 2024 AI Day, saying it would work its way into XPeng's own factories.6

XPeng showed a next-generation Iron walking on stage at 2025 AI Day; the walk looked so human-like that online viewers accused the company of hiding a person inside, prompting CEO He Xiaopeng to cut open the robot's leg on stage to show the wiring.7

Notes
- Specs recorded here (178 cm / 70 kg / 60+ joints) are for the original Iron unveiled November 2024. The next-generation Iron shown at 2025 AI Day (Nov 5, 2025) has different hand dexterity: CnEVPost's 2025 coverage states 'a hand with 22 degrees of freedom', while a separate report cited elsewhere put per-hand DOF at 21 and total body DOF at 76 for the 2025 version. Updated full-body height/weight for the 2025 generation were not confirmed by a primary or press source during this session, so the 2024 figures are kept as the current record and the hand-DOF conflict is flagged rather than resolved.
- No shipped or independently verified customer deployment was found; XPeng has stated mass production is targeted for end of 2026 with deliveries/showroom deployment planned for 2027, which is a plan, not a shipped or demonstrated-in-production status.
- hand_dof (22) and compute (3x Turing chips, 2,250 TOPS) added 2026-09-20 from CnEVPost's 2025-11-05 coverage of the next-generation Iron shown at 2025 AI Day, i.e. a newer generation than the 2024 height/weight/dof figures kept above; per the discrepancy note already on file, a separate report elsewhere put per-hand DOF at 21 (vs. CnEVPost's 22) and total body DOF at 76 for this same 2025 generation -- that conflict is unresolved and CnEVPost's figure is used as the traceable press source. No fixed capability id in data/capabilities.json cleanly matches the 2025 catwalk/runway demonstration (no 'run' aerial-phase gait shown, no dexterous-hand task performed on stage), so no capabilities entry was added for this build.
- locomotion left out (2026-09-21): cnevpost's launch coverage and Humanoids Daily's Shenzhen catwalk-debut article were checked; Humanoids Daily uses "bipedal robots" only in a general aside about fascia-layer damping, not as a direct statement about Iron itself, and no other fetched source gave a literal sentence naming Iron's own locomotion. Left out rather than inferred from the catwalk demo footage or the humanoid category.
- Battery update (2026-10-29): CnEVPost (https://cnevpost.com/2026/10/28/solid-state-batteries-xpeng-iron-small-batch-production/, accessed 2026-10-29) reports XPeng VP Gu Jie said solid-state batteries for Iron 'had begun rolling off the production line in small batches', with the robot itself still 'ahead of SOP'. Conflicting sources kept side by side: at the November 2025 unveiling XPeng said Iron would use all-solid-state batteries; Jipian Lab (as cited by CnEVPost) reported on 3 September 2026 that the production version would use solid-liquid hybrid (semi-solid-state) batteries. CnEVPost notes the new disclosure 'uses the term "solid-state battery" without specifying' which technology, with no energy density or volume figures. No battery spec recorded because the type is unresolved.
